Should You Leave Your Window Blinds Behind When Selling a Home?

aria faux wood blinds in Lakeland, FL

Do you absolutely love the window blinds in Fort Tampa, FL that you have hanging up over the windows in your current home? If so, you might be sold on the idea of taking your blinds with you when you move one day. As long as you let a buyer know that you’re planning on taking your blinds with you when you move, you’re usually free to do it. But you should think about leaving your old blinds behind and buying new ones for your new home, no matter how much you love the blinds you have now. Check out some of the reasons why it’s a good idea to start fresh in a new home rather than trying to make your old blinds work in it.

You might not have enough blinds to cover all the windows in a new home.

Unless you’re going to be moving into a new home that looks almost identical to your old home during a move, there’s a really good chance that your new home won’t have the same number of windows as your old one. As a result, you might discover that you don’t have enough blinds to cover all the windows in your home. This will put you into a tricky position. Should you buy new window blinds that look like your old ones to cover up the uncovered windows? Unless you know for a fact that you’ll have enough window blinds, consider buying brand-new ones instead to keep your blinds uniform throughout a new home.

You might find that your old blinds don’t fit your new windows.

Let’s say that, by some miracle, your new home has exactly the same number of windows are your old one. Jackpot, right? You won’t have any trouble covering up the windows in your new home now! Except that you might run into a problem if you have windows in your new home that aren’t the right size for your blinds. This will result in you having to order at least some new blinds anyway despite having enough blinds for all the windows in your new home.

Your old blinds might not work well with the interior design in your new home.

When you installed your Fort Tampa, FL blinds in your old home, you did it with the interior design of that home in mind. You picked out blinds that were the right style and color for your old home. They may have worked well in that home, but they might not work well in your new home with its interior design. And the last thing you want to do is try to shoehorn blinds into a space where they don’t fit. It could cause them to look very out of place in your new home.

You might do damage to your old blinds while moving and need to replace them.

Taking a bunch of blinds down from the windows in your old home and trying to transport them to your new home is going to be a tall task. Blinds aren’t the easiest items to move from point A to point B. You could end up doing damage to some of them and have to replace them anyway. You would be better off leaving the blinds behind in your old home and getting new blinds for your new home.
